Market Timing in Real Estate

A definition of an economist is: An expert who can tell you tomorrow why the prediction made yesterday, didn't happen today. 

And these are the experts!  When we look to the data and the market sentiment, we can get close to a bottom (or a top), yet nobody nails it consistently.  How close is close enough?  How far is a miss?
